The Promise

Neville Goddard used "the Promise" for a series of mystical events that he believed fulfilled the biblical story in the individual. He distinguished this gift from the Law, which he taught as the use of imagination to change conditions in ordinary life.

Neville's account includes birth from the skull, David addressing the awakened person as Father, the torn curtain and ascent, and the descent of the dove. He said the sequence could not be produced by a manifestation technique and would come in its appointed time. In his later teaching, these experiences became the basis for his account of resurrection and divine fatherhood.
