Scripture Interpretation

Scripture runs through nearly all of Neville Goddard's lectures, but some talks are built around interpreting a particular text. He read biblical characters and events as states of consciousness or as parts of a spiritual drama fulfilled in the individual.

Neville frequently referred to Hebrew and Greek names, biblical chronology, and links between passages to support his reading. He treated scripture as a unified symbolic record rather than a set of unrelated moral lessons. Some passages describe psychological states and practical use of imagination; others describe the spiritual drama he called the Promise.
